Begin with one objective
An exploration trip and a difficult fight can ask different things of your roster. Pick the activity first, then choose the creature you want to build around. This prevents collecting several strong-looking choices that all perform the same job.
Understand the role labels
The official Wiki uses DPS, Break, Support, Heal and Regen labels. Treat these as a starting point for reading a creature’s kit, not as a replacement for it. Our database preserves those labels and shows their source instead of inventing a numerical tier ranking.
Look for gaps, not just duplicates
A repeated element can be intentional. Check whether the rest of the group compensates for its limitations before replacing it. The planner counts unique elements and shows the represented role categories, which is useful for spotting a narrow plan.
Test and revise
Save a four-slot planning shortlist, try the idea in game and replace the least useful option. The four slots are this tool’s planning layout, not a statement about an official party-size rule. No damage simulation or automatic optimal-team score is included.
